Race Day 2024: The CTU campus came to life with speed and transformed into a racing circuit

On Wednesday, October 2nd, the CTU campus on Technická Street was transformed into a racing circuit, where we had a unique opportunity to showcase our newest formula, the CTU.24, to the public.

The event was organized in cooperation with the CTU Lions team. Although their motorcycles couldn’t race due to rainy weather, which made it unsafe, the team presented the third generation of their electric motorcycle, the EVO 3.0 Electric, and focused on static displays and recruiting new members.

The event began with a speech from the CTU Rector, Associate Professor Vojtěch Petráček, who thanked all the participating teams for their year-round efforts. The Deans of the Faculties of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Transportation Sciences also expressed their gratitude and presented symbolic checks to the team captains. We greatly value the support from the university, and we are thankful that it helps us push our projects forward year after year. We also want to extend our thanks to our sponsors, whose support opens up new possibilities for development and used technologies, allowing us to refine our engineering craft.

Our race cars made three appearances on the track, each in ten-minute intervals. In addition to the CTU.24, older race cars models also took to the track. “At one point, there were five cars on the circuit—10-year-old FSE.04x, FSE.07, FSE.09, the combustion-powered FS.15, and the latest CTU.24. It was a great opportunity not only to showcase our newest car but also to demonstrate how our team has evolved technologically,” summarized our team captain Jan Cába. In addition to the dynamic demonstrations, there was also a static display of the CTU.24’s autonomous systems.

Despite the unfavorable weather, the race day was a success and once again showed how CTU students can combine their knowledge and skills with innovative projects. Our team is already actively working on developing a new car for the 2025 season, and we look forward to meeting again on Technická Street next year for another day of speed-filled racing.
